Best Film Award for 78 Days at Cyprus Film Days

Emilija Gasic's debut feature film gets the Best Film Award at the 22nd edition of Cyprus Film Days. The international jury, led by Slovak film producer Katarína Tomková, and comprising Turkish-Cypriot DoP Emre Erkmen, French film critic Sandra Onana, Greek writer-director Asimina Proedrou and Berlin-based Palestinian filmmaker Juna Suleiman, selected 78 Days for its “unyielding truthfulness, and its ability to transcend time and to speak to the deepest recesses of our humanity”.

Variety Interview with Emilija Gašić

Serbian director Emilija Gašić will follow the International Film Festival Rotterdam premiere “78 Days” with the “atmospheric and tense” psychological thriller “Witches,” she reveals to Variety exclusively. “I’ve always been drawn to scary elements in films — especially if there are moments of comic relief. Growing up in Serbia, I was surrounded by stories and legends. There are so many superstitions and traditions that date back to pagan times.”

78 Days World Premiere at IFFR

Emilija's debut feature film is set to premiere at the renowned International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on January 29th, 2024. "After their father is conscripted during the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia, three sisters begin a Hi8 video diary in their countryside home. They film each other putting on make-up, picking cherries, playing party games, getting into fights and helping their mother cook. This fragile, intimate world is perhaps their only shelter from the reality of bombings, sirens and war."

In/between: Lush Friction group exhibition

New York Live Arts, in partnership with New York Foundations for the Arts (NYFA), presents exhibition In/Between 2023: Lush Friction on view from March 17-April 30 at the New York Live Arts Ford Foundation Live Gallery in Manhattan. Serbian Director Emilija Gašić Shoots Debut Feature 78 Days

Serbian director Emilija Gašić, who has recently graduated form the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, started shooting her debut feature “78 Days” on June 7. The production, supported by Film Center Serbia, began on locations around the Serbian spa town Vrnjačka Banja. Gašić also penned the script. In a small town in Serbia, three sisters record their daily lives on a home camera during the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia. The monotonous days are interrupted by the sudden arrival of city children at a neighbor’s house.

In accordance with the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of France on cinematographic co-production, the successful cooperation between Serbia and France in the field of cinematography continues. From November 17 to 19, a co-production market will be held in Paris, organized by the Film Center of Serbia, the French Center for Film and Motion Pictures (CNC) and the French Institute in Serbia. Six Serbian developing film projects, selected by CNC based on the submitted materials, will be presented at the Market. One of the six projects is the feature film by Emilija Gasic - 78 DAYS.

Emilija's Analog Photography Exhibition "In|Between" at UK Parobrod

On Monday, February 22nd at 7 pm in “UK Parobrod” is the opening of the exhibition of analog photography "In|between" by Emilija Gasic. The exhibition will last until March 3, 2021. The concept of the exhibition "In|between" is a collection of analog photographs taken on the road, along the way, between different stations, cities, countries, during walks, unplanned and undirected in the last ten years. Divided into two series - rural and urban, the collection shows the author's notion of belonging and the frequent feeling of being caught in between spaces.

Film Center of Serbia about Emilija's first feature project 78 Days

Emilija Gasic is preparing her first feature film 78 DAYS produced by Milos Ivanovic and Andrijana Sofranic Sucur (Set Sail Films). This project will be presented in Venice at Biennale College of Cinema. During the 77th Venice Biennale 12 projects were chosen for this year's edition of the workshop. The 10 day workshop will be held from October 3 to October 12 and the participants are teams of directors and producers. From 188 projects that originally applied, 12 were selected.

During the 77th Venice International Film Festival, 12 projects have been selected for the 9th edition of Biennale College – Cinema 2020/21; their teams (composed of a director and a producer) will participate in the first 10-day workshop which will be held from October 3-12, 2020. Nine projects were selected from the Biennale College – Cinema International competition, whereas another three came from the Biennale College Cinema – Italy competition.
